Andy Cliffe | Chief Executive Officer

Andy was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in February 2026. He is an Operating Partner at Macquarie Asset Management and joined the Board of LCY following its acquisition by Macquarie in October 2024. He also sits on the Board of Birmingham Airport.

A qualified accountant, Andy started his career in the National Health Service before moving into commercial real estate in London and then to East Midlands Airport (EMA), part of National Express Group – a major listed transport group. Following the acquisition of EMA by Manchester Airport Group (MAG), Andy held a number of senior strategy, commercial and operational roles across MAG including MD of the Group’s asset portfolio, MD of East Midlands and Bournemouth Airports and he played a key role in the Group’s partial sale in the private markets and the subsequent acquisition of Stansted Airport.

Andy’s other roles in MAG include leading the Group’s real estate portfolio, from where he led the Group’s AirportCity venture, and oversight of the Group’s US business. Following MAG, Andy led a turnaround of Midland Expressway (M6Toll) as CEO. Prior to joining Macquarie as an OP, Andy was the Group CEO of the Macquarie portfolio company AGS airports (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton) until 2025.

Kemi Sonariwo | Interim Chief Financial Officer

Kemi joined the airport in July 2018 and has held several roles including Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, Director of Finance and Deputy CFO. Prior to London City Airport, Kemi held senior finance roles in a range sectors including manufacturing, construction and private aviation.

She began her career at Price Waterhouse Coopers where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst working in the audit division.

Andrew Hodges | Chief Commercial Officer

Andy was appointed Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in February 2023, having spent more than 25 years in the air transport industry across leading airlines and in strategic consulting. He has held a wide variety of senior commercial and finance roles, including in the start-up and launch of Norse Atlantic (where he was Chief Commercial Officer responsible for network strategy, route performance, product development, sales, marketing distribution and customer service), Norwegian Air Shuttle, easyJet, British Airways and Deloitte.

He is a Chartered Accountant and has a first-class BEng degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics from Southampton University.

Michael Spiers | Chief People Officer

Michael was appointed Chief People Officer (CPO) in May 2016, having joined the airport as HR Director in May 2013. In his current role he is responsible for HR as well as Planning, Sustainability and Community.

Prior to this he was Head of HR for Nuclear and Renewable Energy at Centrica Energy and also held the role of Head of HR for the Centrica Group. 

Previously, he spent 15 years with Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd where he worked in various Retail HR roles before completing his final five years there as HR Business Partner to the Trading and Commercial divisions.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD) and holds a Masters degree in Human Resources, Employment Law and Chemistry. He has been a Governor of the Aylward Academy since 2014 and chairs the Achievement and Standards Committee there.

Ian Cowie | Senior Director Airport Operations

Ian Cowie was appointed Senior Director Airport Operations in September 2024 and is responsible for managing operations at the airport and the delivery of the end-to-end customer proposition. Ian has extensive experience in the retail, leisure and tourism industry and joined London City Airport as Director of Customer Operations in 2018.

Prior to his roles at the airport, Ian was Managing Director at Scorpio Worldwide, having joining as Operations Director in 2010, and led the company through a strong period of growth, development and reorganisation which saw the company bring significant global brands into its portfolio. Earlier in his career, he spent time at Tui, Sainsburys, Tesco and World Duty Free.

Russell Harvey | Senior Director Transformation and Change

Russell Harvey was appointed Senior Director Transformation and Change in September 2024 and is responsible for IT, Facilities Management, Continuous Improvement, Procurement and the Project Management Office. Russell has over 30 years’ experience in various aviation roles and joined London City Airport as Director of Aerodrome Operations in 2019.

Prior to this he was Head of Operations at BA CityFlyer for over 10 years, leading the management of all ground operations, and was previously in operations roles at other airlines including MyTravel Airways. He holds an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher license having studied at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
