Meet the board
London City Airport is owned by Macquarie Asset Management and Wren House Infrastructure.
Representatives from each organisation sit on the airport’s board, taking responsibility for setting our long-term strategy and overseeing performance to make sure we meet our objectives.
Mel Ewell | Chairman of the Board
Mel was appointed Chair of London City Airport in December 2023. Mel’s career spans 35 years, with 15 spent as CEO of the leading UK public and regulated services provider Amey. Under his tenure he successfully guided Amey through its sale to Ferrovial before retiring in 2016. He previously held a number of senior management positions for TNT International, Xerox and ADI Group.
Mel is a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. He studied at Kingston University where he gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography and subsequently an honorary doctorate.
Sara Sulaiman | Macquarie Asset Management
Sara joined Macquarie Asset Management as Managing Director in June 2025. She has over 25 years’ experience in the energy, industrials and infrastructure sectors within industry as well as investment banking and principal investing. She started her career at Petroleum Development Oman and Shell Chemicals and then moved to corporate finance advisory and investment banking at KPMG and Simmons and Company International, a boutique energy investment bank.
Prior to Macquarie Asset Management, she was a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management where she was a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Southern Water, Nortegas (a Spanish regulated gas distribution business) and North Sea Midstream Partners.
Sara has a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge. She is a CIMA-qualified management accountant.
Maddy Saraf | Macquarie Asset Management
Maddy is a Director in the Mobility and Transport Sector Team within Macquarie Asset Management Real Assets, having joined them in 2009. With more than 16 years of experience in infrastructure and a particular focus on the transport sector, Maddy has played key roles on several projects, including the refinancing and ultimate sale of Bristol Airport, the successful acquisition and ultimate sale of Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton Airports (AGS Airports), acquisition of Farnborough Airport, and the recent acquisitions of Bristol, Birmingham and London City Airports.
She has previously held board positions on AGS Airports, a portfolio of three regional airports in the UK that Macquarie Asset Management owned and managed for a period of 10 years in a joint venture with Ferrovial. She is currently on the board of Birmingham Airport.
Maddy holds a Master of Science in economics and econometrics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
David Stanton | Macquarie Asset Management
David has 20 years’ global experience in aviation strategy, finance and operations. He has previously sat on the Board of Directors for Birmingham, Bristol, Brussels and Copenhagen Airport.
He has also worked with BBA Aviation plc as Corporate Development Director, in addition to roles with Macquarie, SG Hambros and PwC.
Andy Cliffe | Macquarie Asset Management
Andy was most recently Chief Executive Officer of AGS Airports. He had previously spent 19 years with Manchester Airports Group where he served as a member of the Group’s executive committee. During his time with Manchester Airports Group, Andy held the position of Managing Director of East Midlands and Bournemouth airports.
He also held senior positions across a variety of functions including finance, operations, commercial, real estate development, strategy and corporate development.
Greg Pestrak | Director, Wren House Infrastructure
Greg is a Managing Director at Wren House Infrastructure, where his focus is on Asset Management across the portfolio.
Prior to joining Wren House in July 2017, Greg was a Partner in KPMG’s Global Strategy Group based in the UK, where he was the Infrastructure lead since 2009. In this role, he worked with Infrastructure investors, leading value creation reviews with management teams across a number of global portfolio companies.
Greg has over 17 years consulting experience, working with Investors and Corporates to drive performance improvement. Prior to his career in consulting, he worked in Finance with Rothschild Asset Management and Jardine Fleming Asset Management in Hong Kong and the UK.
Greg holds a Sloan Fellowship Masters in Management from the London Business School and B.A. from The University of King’s College, Canada.
Naser AlAujan | Director, Wren House Infrastructure
Naser joined Wren House in 2015 and is a Director involved in the origination, execution and asset management of investments. Prior to joining Wren House, Naser worked for Asiya Investments in Hong Kong and Kuwait, as well as for Wafra Investment Advisory Group in New York.
Naser holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
